IMs

Responsibilities in a nutshell

  • Manage and secure critical research data and metadata for the JRN LTER program
  • Publish Jornada LTER datasets to community-supported repositories according to LTER Network and NSF guidelines.

Onboarding steps

  1. Add to the Jornada IM team on GitHub
  2. Add to the JRN-L and JRNSTUDENT-L listservs as a moderator and provide login credentials.
  3. Read the IM Guide
  4. Add to JRN-all Google Drive folder as an administrator.
  5. Notify the LTER Network Office (Marty Downs) that there is a new JRN IM. The IM will be invited to LTER Network systems and meetings (such as monthly IM Committee (IMC) meetings).
  6. Provide access to servers and NAS devices: oryx, termite, packrat, JRN-METNET
  7. Provide access to web resources: Grist personnel database, WPengine, Shinyapps.io,

Other investigators

  2. Add to the JRN-L listserv.

JRN Grad student representatives

There are usually 2 reps, elected or appointed to 2-year terms.

Responsibilities in a nutshell

  • Coordinate, support, and advocate for graduate and undergraduate students in the JRN LTER program.
  • Represent the JRN student community at the LTER Network level, and ensure student-related communications from the LTER Network reach the JRN student community.
  • Help organize student-centered JRN events, including Desert Discourse, Field Season Kickoff, and the Desert Ecology Short Course.

Onboarding steps

  1. Make sure reps are on the JRN-L and JRNSTUDENT-L listservs and unmoderated (and aware they are unmoderated). 2, Add to Google Drive folders (JRN-all/Committee Materials/Student Affairs, and probably also Desert Discourse, Field Season Kickoff, and Short Course folders).
  2. Notify the LTER Network Office (Marty Downs) that there is a new JRN student rep.
